What we collect from workers and companies, why, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how to have it corrected or deleted.

1. Who we are

कर्मठ Connect (Karmath Connect) ("we", "us") runs this website. The legal name and registered address of the business that operates it will be published on this page. We run a website that connects blue-collar and frontline workers with companies that are hiring. We are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. What we collect

From workers:

  • Email address, used to log in: we send a one-time code to it. If you choose to log in with Google instead, Google confirms your email address to us and we store your Google account's identifier — never your Google password.
  • Mobile number, and where you live now (village or town, and district), given when you create the account.
  • Name, photo, date of birth, gender (optional), and where you want to work.
  • Education, trades, skills, work history, expected monthly pay and availability.
  • Identity verification: the result, the type of document, the last 4 digits of its number and, where needed for review, an encrypted copy of the document. We never store a full Aadhaar number.
  • Jobs you show interest in, and whether you were contacted or hired.
  • Your language choice, and basic device information (IP address, browser) used to keep your account secure.

3. What we collect from companies

  • Business name, GSTIN, address and registration proof.
  • Name, mobile number and email of the contact person.
  • Job postings, credit purchases, invoices and payment references.
  • Which candidates you unlocked, and hires you reported.

4. Why we use it

  • To create your account and show your profile to verified companies hiring near you.
  • To check identities and businesses, so companies see real workers and workers see real companies. Before a worker's profile is shown to companies, our team calls the worker's mobile number to confirm it is theirs.
  • To show workers suitable jobs, and to let a company contact a candidate it has paid to unlock.
  • To issue invoices, meet tax law, prevent fraud and resolve disputes.

6. Who can see your data

  • Verified companies can see a verified worker's profile: name, photo, age, gender (if given), area, trades, skills, education, experience, expected pay, availability and verification status.
  • A company sees a worker's phone number, email and current address only after it pays to unlock that worker's contact details. Every unlock is recorded.
  • Workers who apply to a job share their profile with that company in the same way; contact details still need an unlock.
  • Our operations team, for verification, support and disputes. Their access is logged.
  • Service providers working for us under contract: hosting, file storage and email delivery.
  • Google, only if you choose to log in with Google: it tells us your email address and name. We do not see your Google password.
  • Government authorities, when the law requires it.
  • We do not sell personal data.

7. How long we keep it

  • Worker and company profiles: until you ask us to delete them, or 24 months after your last login, whichever comes first.
  • Identity documents: the copy is deleted within 90 days after our team decides on the verification; the result, the document type and the last 4 digits are kept with the profile.
  • Invoices and payment records: as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, currently up to 8 years.
  • Security and audit logs: 12 months, and longer only while a dispute, investigation or legal claim needs them.

8. Your rights

  • See the personal data we hold about you, and correct it — most of it you can edit yourself after logging in.
  • Ask us to delete your account. We remove your personal details and anonymise the rest; invoice records that tax law requires us to keep are retained without your contact details.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you.
  • Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (section 12). If you are not satisfied with the answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Identity documents and uploaded files are encrypted at rest and served only through links that expire. Contact details are never sent to a company's browser before an unlock. Access by our team is restricted and logged.

10. Age

कर्मठ Connect is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

11. Changes to this policy

Each version of this policy has a version number shown on this page. If we change it in a way that affects how your data is used, we will tell you and ask for your consent again.

12. Grievance Officer
